I purchased this play with the intention of using it for a college class presentation on Text Analysis, but was disappointed to find that there was little to analyse. I felt that it was poorly written, lacked a central focus, and the show had a change of seen almost every page. Very disorienting to follow such frequent changes in scenes, and no real rising action. I regret that it did not live up to my expectations. I would not purchase again.

The writer uses 20th century stereotypes about Hispanic people and families and how they speak to tell a story that doesn't belong to his culture or background. What results is a curse word laden script making Latinos appear angry and uneducated. This story feels dated and worst of all, appropriated or hijacked by a seeming "white sympathizer". It's clear Mr. Barnes likes the idea of a 1980's Hispanic-American culture peppered with handsome Latin men and strong Latina women, but this story seems like a deliberate attempt to manipulate the audience's feelings (especially the last scene). This is not his story to tell. I wonder if there were any Latin people around wherever Mr. Barnes grew up.
